I think your "Outhouse Coop" is GREAT!!!
I told my non-farming, non-complicated, totally rational-sane Hubby that we "needed" chickens back in June b/c it would be cheaper than buying organic eggs from the store...and plus I knew a few people that had chickens already and they would give me a couple to start out with! And on I went with my "chickie sales pitch" ...(like I knew that first thing about chickens-Yeah Right(lol)!!!) Anyway...I said, all they need is a little shelter like a dog house and I'll let them run around the back yard and free range..."It Will Be Great and Easy!!!" Well, I must have caught him in a moment of weakness b/c for whatever reason he believed me and said "ok"!!! That's all of the approval that I needed to complicate the most simple farm animal known to man!!!
After hours of days and weeks of researching every chicken breed, shelter, food, accessory, etc, ect, ect I finally decided on my baby chicks and the day they arrived at the post office I totally was smitten with them!!!
Well, what more can I say..now 6 mths. in and still now eggs to show to Hubby
I have convinced him to build me two chicken tractors with hutches, plus I "built"(lol) one "chickie bunker" as I lovingly call it myself with two seperate runs and hutches plus I just bought a SWEET Chicken Shed from craigslist which of course I'm in the process of remodeling and torturing Hubby with my grandious ideas and future plans for this coop!!! So I say all of this to say...I UNDERSTAND!!!! And I don't know if there is a cure out there yet for us!!!(lol)
