You know you are "Country" when...

Phones ring due to an electric pulse on the line; lightening strikes (even if they don't hit the line directly) can cause a surge on any bit of wire, phone, cable, or electric, so yeah, they can make the phone ring.

I've never personally experienced it, though I have had the pulse from a close strike set off a little squeeze toy that was close to a phone.

If ya keep a hammock an lanterns in you weekend truck for...... lets say country get-togethers.

That can happen?? !!

Happened to us all the time when we lived up on top of a mountain.

It killed the answering machine and the speakerphone and damaged my old princess phone.

Its a good idea to unplug phones as well as computers (and the phone line to a computer if you have dial up), in a storm when you're in a place like that.

It rains so infrequently here, and the phone and power lines are so old and frail, whenever it sprinkles (yes, SPRINKLES) we lose power and/or phone service. When it rains, I start filling the bathtub so we at least have water to flush or wash up, and the kids get the lanterns out.

Rebelcowboy, I really didn't need to see the hammock and the visual. You win.

NO!

That is bad. That is very... wait, what color are the zipties?

White, she busted me last night and made purchase a new seat to get rid of the zip ties lol. But it blended in so well she did not know about it until she was cleaning the bathroom a few days latter.

Hey in the Air Force we used zip ties for everything LOL. A $10,000 umbilical connector on an aim-9 missile is protected from the loaders by a rubber band.

sneaking in chickens, securing toilet seats with zip-ites....I cant be trusted LOL!!!

I originally pictured black, which is why I was so horrified. White is more tolerable. I've sat on some people's toilets that have that startling shift, and if I'd had the zip ties with me, I would have strapped that sucker down real good. Or duct tape.

when you wear your poop cleaning shoes to work!
