I have heard stories of how this has ruined families.

Brothers who found out they were half brothers; one confronted the mom who was by now in a nursing home, in failing health and had always hoped her secret would die with her.

A daughter, home from college on Christmas break, who had learned she had Native American DNA, and wondered aloud at Christmas dinner where that came from.

DNA tests can be a surprise. We all laughed at DNA when grandson was tested as part of a college course and came back low % Nigerian. Then we were given DNA test kits for Christmas. The Princess came back 2.3% Nigerian also 23% Ashkenazi Jew. Those Gypsies sure got around.

Also turned out that our kids are indeed our kids, and so far no others have turned up.
