You know you love your chickens when...

When one of your favorite times of the day is going outside after work and feeding the chickens snacks (and your other favorite time is checking the nesting boxes for eggs).

When you have more pictures of chickens on your phone than people. And when other people talk about their kids and dogs you start pulling up chicken pictures without hesitation.

When you have 6 nearly identical sex links and you can tell them all apart from across the yard based on small subtleties, their personality, their walk, etc.
SAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL.  Do people admire them when you pull out the photos?  Aside from the fact that I love my chickens, I think chickens are very photogenic.

You know you love your chickens when you take them a bowl of yoghurt and, as they dig in enthusiastically and start flicking it all over you, you stand there smiling at them instead of leaving quickly.

For the most part, at least I like to think so! I think the majority of my friends and family think I'm a crazy chicken lady and they just put up with it lol. They're just so entertaining and you're right, incredibly photogenic!

And I can related to your "you know you love your chickens when..." lol...

That's exactly me too, on all 4 of those things!

I talk to them all the time trying to mimic their sounds. I have been able to get them to respond sometimes. I think it is a riot. My wife thinks I am bonkers.

Use your tongue to give them a rolling purr sound. Like a cat. Chickens only do that when they are very content. It was so funny with my birds. I would purr to them and the would stop whatever they were doing and look at me. Some would walk towards me.
Best,
Karen

It's getting dark and you are hovering outside the coop that you've just shifted some girls into, to make sure that the other girls let them inside to go to sleep......

Seriously, I want to have my shower and I'm waiting until the chooks are settled. :D

You 'invent' cleavage brooding because you have a lonely little silkie chick who does 'okay' with the temps in the brooder with some older larger chicks, but most often is left all alone on the warm end with no cuddles...
I really need to get a new feather duster.

Awww...

I do have a special set of bra-shelf tank tops for the furry orphans that I raise (kittens, squirrels, etc.), but I must admit that I've never "brooded" with them!

This little chickee seems to love it. No more peeping, just snuggles righ down making happy noises, preens a bit, and off to nappytime.
Considering it's a silkie... It's almost a furry. =)
