You know you're a backyard chicken owner when...

Pics
When you you have a beaten path from your table to incubator the day before hatch day looking for pips. You peep, and Quack. Almost wear out the batteries in your flashlight.
When your Husband and Mothers Birthdays are right at hatch time and you tell them you can't have people over because your waiting on your eggs...lol

When your youngest DD and spouse gest you this cool hand made (by someone they know) rooster ornament for you yard and the oldest kid is saying "I hate chickens" and the rest of the family laughs. FYI the youngest DD has rooster decorations all over her house and is talking about getting chickens. I need to get her out there with my chickens..... She has not visited my coop yet but did meet Miss Jenny pullet when I brought her in the house. I usually go to her house and my chickens are not very old, just started laying.

You find yourself outside in the dark wearing a headlamp, throwing seed because the rain is coming and you can finally grow some pasture for your flock.

You’re texting DH from a board meeting, double checking he’s locked up the coop. When you get home, you go inside the coop and have a quick look to make sure everyone is accounted for and roosting normally.

You hold up a tub of meal worms, yell “treats!” and when your flock comes running, the cuteness warms your heart so much you get misty eyed.

You time your lunch break in the heat of summer to check on the girls. You refill the buckets with water and swap out the rechargeable batteries in the bucket top misters.

You say “Hi, Rusty. I miss you” every single time you walk by the slab of flagstone you laid down to keep her from getting dug up by the raccoons.

Your twelve year old daughter buys you chicken tee-shirts for Christmas with her own money.

You can’t stop coming up with more examples of being a backyard chicken owner.
