We had "mud rooms" in the 3 houses in the country. I don't have one here in the city. The only way in from my backyard is through my single car garage and dining room. Too cold out there in the winter to leave boots or jackets also the mice get in there. UGG mice in boots, no no. I guess I could go down the back stairs from the garage to the basement into the laundry room and leave things there, it's not handy so don't do that.

Oh, how I'd love to have a mud room. Hubby says if we ever build again, I will have a gardening kitchen for all of my garden/chicken/and sprouting projects. I will also need a barn and a shop for MY TOOLS. And a potting shed. Of course, I'll need a big shed so I can store my kubota.

I love it. Have to figure out where it will be outside. Probably near my coop once I get the run done. i will have small gardens on 2 sides if all works out the way I have planned.

My house has a vestibule, not exactly a mud room but it helps to keep the dirt to a controlled area.
