We have bear, wolves, coyote, bobcat, an occasional cougar sighting. I don't worry about them, they are more afraid of you than you are of them as a general rule. Now Southies have tiny poisonous critters who can hide in shoe and under sheets, a hidden threat, much scarier than a little ole bear!If you stay in saltwater, your pretty safe from alligators. They mostly stay in fresh and brackish water. I live on the gulf (west) side of south Florida and you never hear of sharks here. I see lots of dolphins, manatee, and sea turtles but no sharks! Ooops...forgot to mention the panthers, but maybe that’s just here in Florida since there is a panther reserve here. I was a bit freaked out over these signs at first, but have never seen one in the three years that I’ve lived here.
