You might be a “Southie” if...

People still use Crisco? I like to use bacon grease for the flavor and avocado oil to keep it from sticking too much.
Crisco isn't food. It's a manufactured industrial product they foisted off on us so *they* could make a pile of cash selling 💩 to the masses.

When I was in nursing school a million years ago, they tried to convince us that hydrogenation made fats healthier. I am proud to say I didn't buy that load of 💩. My gut said no. Didn't add up. Don't know why, but that is wrong. 🤷‍♀️

By nothing but pure chance, I turned out to be right. :lau Bacon fat for the win. Or unaltered coconut oil, or schmaltz, ghee/clarified butter, unaltered (must-be-refrigerated) lard, goose fat... Crisco is absolutely not food and should not be eaten. I learned that in nursing school. Sort of.

Seriously, though--it really is bad for the human body, really is a non-food. Other natural fats add so much more flavor and are so much better for health. Crisco isn't southern or northern, not a cultural thing to be defended. It's just plain toxic.

My cousin will not eat black raspberries because the seeds get stuck between the teeth.
I told her that's what floss is for.

She told me the same thing you did
:barnie two against me must be me
If lard makes your teeth icky, too much might have gotten added somehow. I hate that, too. Seedy berries must be gently muushed by the teeth, then squushed by the tongue. NEVER chew! :old

I will worry about the Crisco and margarine I eat right after I quit smoking. 😂

When I was young, quite a long time ago, my mother switched from butter to margarine because my dad had hereditary high cholesterol. Well we know now that was a mistake. I have always considered margarine and associated things like Crisco to be totally unhealthy in every possible way. Butter, olive oil, or Hollywood brand safflower oil are the only things I use anymore.
