Sorry, I'm not sure whether this is what you're asking, but I'll give a short explanation of neck gaiters. There's different materials and thicknesses for different uses. Some are for cold weather, some are for hot weather, and most recently some are used as facecoverings for Covid. I don't wear any of the hot weather ones, just the cold weather ones. I like balaclavas, but prefer neck gaiters plus a hat, just because it's difficult to get my lion's mane of hair in a balaclava and once I finally do, it itches.

Balaklava... isn't that a kind of Greek pastry—very sweet, very greasy... Why you put this on your head?

My mom had a stroke so I am in Washington state with her. It is supposed to get down to 15 here tonight...yuck! I am missing my deep southie Florida weather! When I left home on Tuesday, I could definitely tell that it was not summer there anymore:
