You might be a “Southie” if...

Baklava - Unctuous greek pastry made with pistachios, filo dough and honey syrup. Definitely not greasy, but it is sticky from the honey.

Balaclava - Middle Eastern origin knitted head and neck covering mostly used under helmets, hats, and other severe cold weather gear

The only reason I'm really familiar with both is because my husband is a food snob and my daughter makes costumes that required her to learn how to make balaclavas. Lol

We've had all sorts of license plate color this year. I'm beginning to wonder whether they're going home or not... 😳
I find this time of year peaceful, all the southies that haven’t left already are frantic to get out of here. Which provides great entertainment to us normal people.

Plus, they are gone before ice fishing starts so they never learn how great life is up here.

I am guessing they both taste the same also..

I have eaten the brown ones but never those like the black ones....

As I think about it the black one might even taste better.

Those baklava things look delicious! My sister is a dang good cook... maybe I can convince her to make me some!

DH's son made Baklava for us one Christmas. His version was very buttery (I think it was butter, but 🤷‍♀️) At any rate, it was delish. We always make fun since then, mixing baklava & balaclava up on purpose. 😂

Those are Greek foods right?

Greek is a Southie nation. Therefore, I am thinking you’re a true Southie.

Southie, we need to know what you eat for Thanksgiving?

I assume huge helpings of Okra and Grits, Maybe a fresh Possum wrapped in Collard greens.

Boiled Peanuts for an appetizer.

Burgoo, red eye gravy,

followed by a pineapple cheese casserole..

Another reason to be thankful I am a true Northerner!!
