Getting to this thread kinda late but, I thought the mason Dixon line was somewhat along

I-94 follows is the Mason dixon line between the Mississippi/st Croix and Missouri rivers. East and west of those points it goes north the the VWN border to the west and follows the Great Lakes and St Lawrence seaway to the East.
 
Back in times of old, due to poor mapping Maryland and Pennsylvania had a territory dispute, and Mason and Dixon were the surveyors that established the state boundaries (along with northern Virginia). That line is the Mason-Dixon line. It was later used unofficially to indicate the line between slave and non-slave states, and extended along the Ohio river (and north/west along the Mississippi/Missouri rivers).

it has been changed to mean the line between Southies and Northerners.

It has been redrawn slightly too as described in my previous post. I do have the maps if you need to see them again.
