If you spend the daylight part of the 4th of July shopping for/ building a new 'temporary' mini-coop (for the mini-chickens!) so the babies can move outside without the bigger chickens picking on them. And your only thought when the fireworks begin and the sounds of your neighbor's noisy party drift into your yard is "at least no one will be upset by the racket I am making with the power tools!"
Then, when it is too dark to keep building, you come inside to BYC (which is of course just so I an sit up and comfort my terrified dog).
Who needs fireworks, chickens are more fun.
Oh, and I just fond out a second hen went broody on me, and was for a brief moment worried that my prior color genetics calculations were going to have to be redone for her batch-cuz I couldn't just NOT know the possibilities! Now I am all excited to have a total of 10 eggs under broodies. If all 10 hatch, I can see how accurate my prediction was!
