If you just realized in 3 weeks you will have over sixty chickens. Sixty-one if they send exactly my order and no more.
I am only legally allowed 24...
Granted,I am not keeping the red broilers (8), no matter the gender. So now its 53.
The other newcomers (40 in number) will be straight run, so take out half of them (now 20) and add to my current 13. That brings me down to 33.
Half of the new ones (12 pullets) I am going to sort out, rehoming those who are too small or the wrong color (minus another 6), so now I am down to about 27, assuming half won't be right.
Add back in 3, because I will keep a few roos. 30.
But, according to BYC's laws of chicken math, I only have to count hens, so take the roosters out (3 new, 2 old) and I am down to only 25!
And since many will be chicks living in a brooder, some of those don't even count for a few months, right?
Room to grow, I think!
Of course the reason I ordered them was to breed them...
