Hey guys!

welp, it happened! I got my kidney transplant! Fortunately I was able to get my coworker and friend to take my four ducks while I recovered. I found out that I would NOT be able to take the ducks back at all post transplant, so they’re living on 10 acres here in Southern California with my buddy Tim who calls them “family”. I’m saddened at the loss of Chowder, Waddles, Duckduck and Goose, but I am comforted knowing they’ve gone to greener pastures.
In the meantime, I’ve found a brand new calling to get people to register to be organ donors! I’ll attach a video of my bell ringing ceremony conducted upon my discharge from the hospital, which I think highlights the importance of Organ Donation and the seriousness of Transplantation! It truly is the “Gift of Life” and I intend to honor my donor above and beyond the responsibility of caring for my new graft by living as meaningful a life as I can. You can register to be an Organ Donor at RegisterMe.org

I have donor bone in me, so it is only right. <3 I don't know who donated to me, but I appreciate them and their family.
Exactly how I feel! I received an anonymous cadaver kidney..! I have this deep desire in me to do right by them since they passed way too early at 30. I don’t know how long this desire will move in me, but until then I’m getting people registered!

Very happy to hear your transplant went well. Blood donors help save my youngest child during cancer treatments. I suggest posting your original message as a new thread under Random Ramblings instead of under ducks as more people should see it.
Stay well. Hopefully you can visit your ducks.
Probably not visit. But photographs are always welcome from my Bud!
I’ll copy+paste this to Random Ramblings! Thank you for the lead!
So sorry to hear about your youngest’s fight with cancer, I will pray they are much better now and living a healthy life!

My best friend is one of two kidney transplant recipients in my state to have had two transplants. The first lasted about a decade and was from his dad, the second was from a car crash victim. :( I am registered to be an organ donor upon my death, but I was never able to bring myself to be tested to see if I could donate to my friend. He never asked, either. I am registered to be a bone marrow donor, at least.

Why are you unable to keep your ducks? I'm sorry for your loss of them, but happy they have a good home.

Most importantly, congrats on your new kidney!
