Put up a post yesterday about my new incubator which was purchased in large part because my 3 broody hens are sitting on turkey eggs and are acting flakey. Got up the nerve and decided to candle one of the nests. Five eggs, four with definite live poults on day 11. One has development with vessels and a dark spot but no well defined embryo or movement. Will give that one a few more days and recheck. What a pleasant surprise. Will check the other broody hens tomorrow. Didn't want to spoil my good spirits since the one I checked was the one that I was certain would have all failed eggs. I guess the moral of the story for me is to not underestimate the abilities of a good broody even if it looks to me like she is not doing a good job.
