"You should be vegan since you own farm animals"

I don’t like the idea of eating smart animals. And I don’t like the way most animals have to live, are transported and die. The intelligent ones likes pigs and horses are not on my plate. I really can’t eat meat of a animal I used to know.

But there is more. Some of the food the pigs and cattle eats comes from farmland that should be tropical rainforest. The soy and corn is poisoned (GMO). And the (native) people that live there are being poisoned too. If we eat less meat and more vegan we can solve some major problems on this earth. Less CO2 an NOx. More food to feed everyone.

Lots of reasons why I only eat fish and vegetarian food.

I understand it but it's not like we are torturing our animals before we eat it :) I don't eat a lot of meats either, not that I'm a vegetarian or anything, heck I almost hate most veggies, I'm just about the pickiest eater their is. I'll eat eggs/pancakes stuff like that or something simple like spaghetti. Not to much of a meat person.

You're killing more animals eating vegan than you are by eating meat. Folks don't take into account all the critters that are killed by farm machinery in fields and such. And how is a vegan diet lessening the GMO impact?

You forget that pigs, chickens and catlle kill too. And the animals eat several kilo’s of veggie food to produce one kilo meat. So you’re statement makes no sense.

The soy and mais for people is not GMO. It has too many pesticides for human consumption.

So by your thinking, we should just kill all pigs, chicken and cattle on the planet to save some lives, or.... where is your logic here?

You do realize that pigs, chickens, and cattle poop, correct? And that that poop is needed to grow your vegetables? Unless of course you'd like to fertilize your food with chemicals... yum.

The circle of life can be a scary yet wonderous thing.

Everyone has a way of eating on earth, humans were made to eat meat.. so most use our ability to do so, even if it is an inhumane way they kill the animals some of us give them better lives before eating them. Vegans can really take things to offence, my friend was just talking about how a vegan confronted her in a restaurant because she was eating steak.

I try to be nice, I really do. But the logic is so flawed it hurts to keep my mouth shut sometimes.

Do dogs and cats need to eat vegan too? I had a vegetarian roommate once who fed his puppy vegetarian food and killed it.

I suppose death is one sure way to assure you don't harm another animal on this planet. So far I've managed to not say anything horrible to that effect to anyone but boy, I sure think it sometimes.

I sometimes can't keep my mouth shut either, I hate when others join in on the other side it outrages me. Their is no reason why humans should deny their actual diet because it's 'cruel' You don't see lions stop eating meat because it's 'cruel'. Some people make no sense  That is pretty stupid to feed a dog vegan, we all need a proper diet and vegan is not one of the. Being a vegan, you lack minerals and vitamins our body needs.

For all of human existence, humans have been omnivores. Our forward facing eyes indicate that we are predatory omnivores. I eat plenty of animals because I love the taste. That said, it is possible to meet all your nutritional needs as a vegetarian (even a vegan) though it is more difficult. After seeing @BDutch claim on the environmental impact of the meat industry vs growing vegetables I went looking for any peer reviewed study that would support her claim.
I don't believe news articles - there's always an agenda. I want to see source material. I couldn't find any.

So- can anyone send me a link to a peer reviewed research case study that might support the claim that a 100% vegan diet is actually better for the planet and could actually provide balanced nutrients and calories for the almost 8 billion people on the planet?
