My kids are two years apart, like yours. (They are teens, now). I cannot imagine juggling 2 wee ones and all the odd little emergencies that happen starting a flock. I would suggest that you put this off a year or so. You might be ready, depending on your situation and the amount of support you can expect from your spouse, friends and neighbors. I dunno. In my situation, when my kids were baby & 2y.o., I was a SAHM & DH worked long hours. My neighbors were all pretty handy if I had an emergency. I just can't imagine that I could handle kids with the flu and an injured rooster, if you get my drift. If you have mom or sister or a best-friend on call, you might do fine.
