young hen, but its fighting w/cockerel? looks like 2 genders?what?help

i think that might be the case, ive been watching closely, and he sneaks up and tries to jump on her back, and she turns around and starts fighting him, it didnt look like mating because she didnt squat like my older hens do, so i assumed that it may be a cockerel, but he only tries to mate with her, strange

I watch my young ones fight all the time, constant little spats, have several older hens that actively go after one of the roosters too..hens can be tough, then they see a bug and it's all forgotten
