Young hen that started laying then stopped.

I have a mystery hen. She started laying at what I thought was a very early age for her breed she is a Easter Egger and laid the prettiest light turquoise blue eggs at 5 months of age. I was getting one about every other day. Then suddenly she just stopped laying all together. For over a month now I have not gotten one single egg from her. I know my Easter Eggers don't lay in the winter but when I've had new layers they did lay here and there through the winter. It has always been when they were over a year old that they stopped in the winter.
Nothing has changed in the flock except for the loss of the female Guinea. It has been colder and the days shorter but she stopped laying even before the cold weather came.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen?

Your pullet began laying at an average age. Easter eggers aren't consistently bred, so production can be all over the place. My current batch are great layers. The last ones were terrible with lots of breaks. It can help to feed a higher protein ration to optimize egg production. Some will lay through the winter and some won't, so I wouldn't be worried as long as she's acting normal.

I've had it happen, not with an Easter egger but a faverolles. I'm still waiting for her to lay again, last egg was in early October.
My faverolle has been the first to resume after the molt. She started with few weeks ago. It certainly shocked me, and I never expected it. They will keep you guessing. :)

I don't have EE's but my flock is 7 months and one of my white rocks decided she would take a break from laying about 2 weeks ago to join the strike that 2 of the other ladies that I have that are currently molting ( I should have mentioned that the 2 that are molting are a year older)

I have 3 bums that are doing that right now. We got about ten eggs from them and I've got nothing in weeks. There they are telling their mom I called them bums...lol!!

She seemed so much earlier than my others from years past.
I am feeding them a layer feed of 18% protein, after they finished their molt everyone looked so pretty and fluffy I just decided to keep them on the Hearty Hen instead of just layer feed.
Shes acting perfectly normal. Which I am thankful for that. I'm not expecting to see another blue or greenish tinted egg till spring then I guess. :tongue
It's only December and I'm already anxiously waiting for March. :hmm
