What I did to make my cats not interested was I would take a baby chick and pretend it was swooping down on the cat, I probably make an eagle sound as well, the cat went went running and of course never went near an adult or a chick again.

My pitbull loves his chickens. The chickens can do without him though. The rooster doesn't like it when he sniffs his butt. Whenever I ask the dog if he loves his chickens he wiggles his butt and gives me kisses.

we brought them home as chicks only about a month after we got him. He was very curious, seemed really excited and let him sniff each one. we had them in the bathtub as babies. He would sit in there and just watch (with my supervision) Once they were old enough to be outside, he chased them a little, as it's his instinct when they run from him. He learned very quickly that when he did that he got yelled at, so now he knows to always walk slowly near them. I am actually extremely proud of him since he was, hmmm..maybe less than a year old then (he was adopted, so not sure of his age)

my favorite, and I wish I took a picture, was when the dog and one of the barred rocks were sunning next to each other on the deck. Never happened again though once the rooster reached puberty!



Honestly think he would protect them from harm if needed. He is just an all-around loving dog.

Rosie (fairly large for a chihuahua) is afraid of my chickens. She used to go up to the coop with me when I let them out in the mornings but Raven and Red decided that it was "fun" to chase her across the driveway and back to the house each morning. Ukon (akbash/antolian mix puppy. Future lgd) used to try to play with the chickens like they were other puppies and he would sometimes get frustrated and barn at them because they didn't want to play back but I've taught him not to do that now and he just ignores them.

My dogs mostly just ignore the adult chickens and ducks. I watch them closely when I have chicks they tend to be more curious about the babies then the adults.

Our dog and chicks are cool with each other. Our dog is a little jealous about the attention being shifted to the chicks, but that only means he sits next to me wanting love while I tend to the chicks.

one of my dogs will mostly ignore the chickens ( while looking for a couple of their poops to vacuum up ) -
while the other thinks they are walking cheeseburgers
