Your dogs !?!

i was raised with cockers and despite the aparent bad rap they seem to have here, theres NOTHING that can beat a good cocker as a family dog. my brother and sister both learned to walk using a cockers ears as a pull up and her back as a walker...and our current cocker puts up with 5 small dogs, 3 of which dont like him and just want to eat his face and never once a growl, he was housebroken overnight, loves to learn, mellow in the house and generally great to be around, id suggest them for ANY family looking for a good small-medium sized breed. but temperment test!!! byb and popularity has brought the breed down hill, they are SUPPOSED TO BE happy, merry dogs who love practically everyone.

my Favorite breed...thats tough, Chinese crested (i have 2 and LOVE LOVE LOVE them, probbaly more upokeep than your looking for though...), Dobie, ive never had one of my own but worked with many and ADORE them! smart sweet when raised right!, im looking into a dobie as my future service dog! Pits/amstaff/staffy bull, never had one of my own, but again worked with plenty, if it wernt for having small dogs id get one in a heart beat but their tendency towards dog agression is an issue in our house. Danes....if only i could get them to live longer...
Poodles...yeah yeah i know they LOOK so froofy! but seriously, they are a sweet lovng and incredibly inteligent breed who do well in practicually any situation...

I have 3 pugs and a Boston Terrier. The Pugs are very mellow little dogs although they get very excited if there is company. The Boston Terrier is a little more hyper, although not as effected by guests. My Boston would just love to get to my chickens and anytime she gets a chance she terrerizes them at their run. It hasn't happened often, but she is quite detirmined. I have had several breeds of dogs in the past, including Min Pins. They are a pretty hyper little dog in general, but can be very loyal, loving companions. Dogs are like people they all have different personallities.

Dogs may not be your whole life, but they make your life whole

Old English Mastiffs are wonderful! They are called gentle giants for a reason. The ones I've experienced are easily trained, great with kids. There are only two draw backs 1. They are big and I do mean BIG! and 2. is they tend to think they are lap dogs lol.

I have to agree, I have 2 mini doxies and a doxiepoo. The are great with the chickens, I have one that will catch and hold them for me. But they are hard headed and hard to house break. They can also become snappy at kids. I also have a golden retrevier he is also fine with the chickens and good with my grandkids. He is a big dog and tends to dig a lot.

My kids have a bassett hound. Oscar was a rescue and is just awsome with the kids. He is very loving and easy going.

My Dane lab mix is afraid of storms so everytime the thunder crashes I have a 160 pound dog hurtle his way into my lap.

1st Favorite - Pit Bull Terrier, AmStaff, English Staff. Any mix of the prior as well. Love my bullies!!

2nd Favorite - Rotties, hands down. I love German Rotties, but they seem too heavy to.. well.. even get around. So American is a good spin off I think. A little more agile and less hip issues.

3rd Favorite = MUTTS! Can't beat the health of mutts, nor the long lives! Plus, it is always fun to see what they look like as grown-ups lol.

I love pitties though, and own a 3 year old white/brindle male right now. I also foster pitbull puppies, and rehome, so my dog constantly has foster brothers and sisters running around lol.

Little dogs almost Always have that tendency to chase, that's why they're such good rodent control, lol. Our old minpin was a little wild and always preferred the women over men. she was also very yappy and had a lot of accidents in the house...her name was "Spanks"

I would (again) recommend a Rottweiler, we have owned a couple and they have always been the sweetest dogs. they were very easy to train and we only ever had 1 incident with other animals but quick discipline shut that behaviour down really quick. They were both good with all kids & people, even though most people were initially afraid of them.

Skin problems & cancer do run high in Rottweilers though. Our first Rottie, Karma, never had any problems but my last girl, Karmin, started to develop skin problems at 5yrs old, she had them from then on and the vet never could figure out what it was. I usually shaved her body in the summer and it cleared it up. Karmin also passed away this February from Bone Cancer, she was only 9yrs old and it came on VERY fast. Suprisingly enough Karmin came from a pet home that only had the mom & dad & wanted them to have 1 litter before fixing them. Karma came from a big breeder & never had any problems, she died after she was kicked by a horse.

It is their temperments I love them for. I like a big dog - although I'd be happy with one a bit smaller - LOL.
