Your worst "surprise" that you found after houseguests leave...

Well this isn't really a "house guest story", but I wanted to tell it anyway because it's similar to one!

Well, when I was about 3 years old(I don't remember all this happening but my dad has told me this story) my dad, mom, older sister, older brother, and younger brother(younger sisters weren't born yet) were going on a long to Arizona. We were going to DRIVE all the way from Maine to Arizona in our van and the RV. And since we were going to be gone for a while(like a few months) we needed someone to watch the house for us. So, our very nice neighbors volunteered and so did my uncle. All they had to do was make sure the lawn was kept mowed, house was kept "livable", etc. Not much.
Well, when we got back about a couple months later....SURPRISE!!!!!! the lawn looked more like a jungle(grass was higher than your knees!), the front door had been busted down and the trash can was lying on the porch, trash scattered everywhere.....several trash bags were ripped open from the raccoons.....

My dad says that our uncle had decided to take the things that he wanted(all the stored food, the couch, etc.) because he thought we weren't coming back(we had told him that we were thinking about moving to Arizona). Plus, he had taken the money(about $100 or something) that mom had payed him to keep the house looking clean!

My friend's dad(our neighbors) didn't keep the lawn mowed like he had said he would....

My dad said it took a LONG time to get the lawn mowed down to make it look normal(there were weeds, TALL grass, etc. all over the lawn!)
So anyway, our neighbors(who are great friends of us still today) tried to repay us by doing nice things for us(helping mowing the lawn, bringing cookies and treats over once and a while, plowing snow, etc.) They are great neighbors!

I don't know about our uncle. He gave our couch back.

A septic tank ruined by my best friend's son. He brought his girlfriend with him and he flushed used you-know-what's down the toilet.

The septic tank backed up and it was so embarassing when the septic guy started pumping them out and putting them on display in the backyard. He'd rinse them off, hold them up and ask "Does this belong to anyone?"

The system has never worked well since - I suspect that some got out in the leech field and plugged it up too.

EWWWWWWWWWWWW! Gross! Those stories are so bad even mine can not compare it.

Went to my hubby's parents house in the country, I had to use the bathroom and lo and behold, what a mess!

Their poodles peed and pooped near the doorway, marking pee all over the doors and walls down to the hallway.

Their tom cat marked his territory all over the doors and clawed my FIL's bedroom door and pooped there.

The bathroom UGH! The padded toliet seat had tears, brown stained in foam and underneath the seat and bowl. I had to go so bad, I layered so much toliet paper not to touch (I could have hovered!) and got out of there so fast, no soap and hairs and personal items all over the bathroom sink and one other sink (its a double sink) had clogged up dog hairs, nail clippings.

Cat likes to walk on kitchen counter and while hubby's mom fixed supper, she let the cat groom himself, hair flying into the raw chicken she was preparing for supper that night......didnt eat much of the chicken either!

Hubbys old bedroom was full of junk that his mother buys from garage sales and cat goes in there and pees all over. The bathroom in there smelled something has died in there, there was a mummified poop in the toliet bowl!

After all this was overwith, I talked to hubby about this and he agreed, they have been living in filth. I refused to step foot in the house. His sister was like her mom with her bathroom! Even my DD refused to use her toliet LOL!

here's 1....your houseguest changes their baby's poopy diapers on your sofa, bed, floors or wherever and then leaves them for you to find! They don't even put them in the trash.

The first time I met my in laws many moons ago....I was soooo hung over from going to a rodeo in Quebec....they had cooked a meal and all when we passed though to visit them on the way home....I turned green....if you know what I mean.....they were so excited to meet me because they thought hubby's only interest was harleys and baseball....and I dont speak english !! I didnt even understand french then.....OHHHH I was soooo very embarrassed !!! and the following month we went down to celebrate Christmas and in the middle of the night my then boyfriend and I got up to raid the cookie's and I went to get the milk jug out of the fridge and I broke the shelf off the fridge door...everything came tumbling down....oh vie....it was packed with everything from A to Z.....hubby took the blame for me...but years later I confessed....

We had a young visitor during a get together who thought it would be softer to wipe with the hand towel rather than toilet paper after she finished going #2. Good thing I was the one to find that and not a visiting guest!!!

My husband and I have been pretty lucky over the years. The worst I can come up with is from just a few months ago. We'd been gone on vacation for almost 2 weeks, leaving our 19 year old daughter home to mind the house and take care of all the animals. We'd left all kinds of numbers for her to call if she needed help with anything house/maintenance related. We returned home to a nasty clogged up kitchen sink (kid let all the bits accumulate in the sink and thought she could run the garbage disposal all at once), and broken board on our back deck from her idiot friends. Final kicker was finally getting into our own clean bed after all those days and just sinking in to that comfortable feeling...then I felt all the sand that was in the bed down by my feet. Turns out she let some inebriated friends sleep over so they wouldn't be driving. I was fine with the letting them stay part, but not in my bed!! I got her up out of bed then to come and change those sheets. It'll be a while before we take a long trip like that again and leave her here. And, man, I can't wait for the opportunity to be a guest at her house some day!!
