Zane and Shadow...Roommates? (Cute Pic, post #79)

That darling boy gets his face, earlobes and wattles rubbed daily. He hold sooo still for me when I do it, too. Such a love! Oh, Miss Shadow has all her feathers back and she's gaining weight and diving right in with the big girls again. Even Panda is back to her sweet, friendly self and they are both laying almost daily.

Serrin, shoot it, and then shoot it for me, too. I do NOT understand people who think it's ok to let their dogs roam! I am SO sorry you lost your pretty one - that is just heartbreaking.

Glad Zane got some sun today, because I think we are going to be sopping wet for the next day or two!

I noted the lack of support re: the incubator. Sheesh. Who are my real friends, anyway? You just want me to fall into the pit with you!

Come on in dear! Cyn's right...from what I can see so far anyway...the temps are warm and cozy!

Oh, and your real friends will do everything they can to help you see the error in your thinking that you shouldn't incubate!

Thanks Cetawin and Beth for the words of encouragement concerning the hound from H. E. Double toothpicks! Believe me, I'd love to turn loose of my potty mouth and say what I really think about both dog and owner, but this is a family site after all! *insert evil grin here* and courtesy and policy dictate that I keep it clean!

You'll just have to take my word for it...not that I'm all that proud of this mind you, but I do have certain descriptive phrases that would make even a sailor blush!

I know a roo can't stop an attack. I'm just hoping he'll have enough sense to scream his ever loving pretty little head off if that rotten mutt even peeks an eyeball up this way. If I had only had some kind of warning, Rosie would be snuggled up on the roost right now with her sis.

Poor Rachel. She looked so forlorn tonight without Rosie to snuggle up to. At least FussyButt seemed amenable to Rachel cuddling up with her instead. Poor, poor little Rachel. Both of her sisters lost in the space of mere months!

This is the only part of having chickens that I don't like....loosing them, for any reason!

Thanks for all of the understanding and support ladies. This is something that my own r/l family still doesn't understand. It's nice to know I have all of you here at BYC to turn to. I know y'all will always understand!

Serrin I hear ya...it is never something a normal human being 'likes' doing....heck I cried for an hour after I shot the neighbor's dog...I cried when I took the dog's body back to the owner and I cried off and on all evening....heck I even called Cyn and made her listen to my whining. It bites to have to do something like that but you must protect your own property and pets.

I am slipping down the slippery slope. . . .cookies? What kind? Chickies, cookies, cameraderie. Will no one hear my feeble cries for help?

I am with Cetawin- I would cry for ages, but I would do it- my babies are my babies and on MY property. Any trespassing anything that threatens me or mine will get it. My DH backs me up on that, too.

Hey Beth! Just gonna toss this back to you...

Serrin, just admit your addiction- just admit it and incubate away!!!!!

Just go with the flow dear! Don't be a salmon, fighting the current of the river all the way...they always die in the end! Just go with the flow, live a long life, and enjoy having all the chickies and cookies around you!!

Yes, the plan is to kill the hell-hound first chance we get. But, he's smart like a fox, and completely unpredictable. If he came around every day, it would be a simple matter of hide out in the green house and wait for him to come trotting by on his way to do another dirty deed. But he's too smart for that!
sad.png
He has no set pattern.

But, he is persistent..and maybe that will be his undoing. We have to kill this animal. We can't afford, either emotionally, or financially, to keep losing our girls to this little B*****D. Once a dog kills, that's it! They're ruined! They will always have that desire to kill. You can't train it or beat it out of them.
sad.png

Besides, we have a pretty good idea, though no solid proof at this time, of who the dog belongs to. And this person isn't the kind to take any steps to either correct the situation (Meaning destroy the dog himself because it would be the right thing to do) or prevent the dog from roaming free. He's also the kind of man you don't want to get into a pissing contest with, if you'll pardon the expression. We're no wimps and have no fear of this man. I just don't want to start WW3 in my own front yard!

Aaaaaanyhow!! Cynthia!! How are those lovely babies of yours? Zane got a nice day of sunning himself did he? Wonderful!! How is Olivia doing? Any turn for the better with her? Sure hope so! She's a lovely lady! What's Fern up to? Doing any more Kamikaze runs at the goodies dish?
gig.gif
How about Shadow? Has she gotten to share any more coffee moments with Dad??
lol.png
I just love your flock lady! All those personalities!

Never a dull moment on the Speckledhen Ranch, huh?

Fern is, well, Fern! She is always looking for a pan to jump into, that girl. Shadow is over her molt and laying so she is just fine. No more coffee klatches with her dad lately. Everyone seems okay except Olivia and maybe Phoebe. Phoebe is very thin, but since Maxie seems to be gaining her weight back, I think Phoebe will, too. Livvie is the same, sadly. Keeps sitting on the nests and getting off. Her abdomen seems to be still too taut and round, so I dunno. The evil girls are picking on Isaac's comb but so are the BR girls picking on Dutch. They are having to stay in the pens so the grass I planted can take off, but today, it's pouring rain anyway. Lexie is laying again and her feathers are barely covering her--she never quits! Took one month off to finish her molt and even with her painful feet, she just keeps on keeping on.

Poor Livvie. I sure hope she gets better

I think everyone has cabin fever...Thor has a spot on his wattles where one of his mean women got him. He was really sweet letting me check him over. Not as pleasant as Isaac but he was a good boy.

Zane is such a love...I am glad he got some sunning time. He is the true snuggle bunny of roosters. Such a good mama's boy.

Move over, Pit Pals!

Ok, Serrin, OK, I humbly catch it!!!

I would think everyone has cabin fever by now- this weather is something else! And more of it to come . . .

I hope Phoebe will catch up on weight - maybe Maxie will inspire her or something. If Livvie were a cat I would say she had a tumor, but since she is a chicken, I wouldn't know. I just hope she gets better!
