Zane Made REAL Progress (New Pics Pg 99)!RIP Lorelei...

I had eleven again yesterday with one that had some rippling. It is the same type of rippling that was on the really really bad one. So even she is improving! Now if only Zoe would lay.

Diana, I just wormed my flock a couple months ago with Eprinex, right before Lorelei started going downhill. And they were done 2 weeks apart like you mentioned. I really dont believe its a parasite problem. I brought her inside and she is in the bsmt brooder under a heatlamp with some wet mash I made up and water with AviaCharge in it. At least she wont be using up all her calories walking all over like some slow moving zombie chicken. She barely weighs 2 lb, I bet. Maybe not even that much. The RIRs seem completely recovered now. I'm positive Lorelei's issues are not related to theirs.

Cyn,

Have you tried feeding her some macaroni? It would be high in carbs for her to use to hopefully put some weight on. Not much else to it but, I would think some could help.

Glad to hear that the RIRs are better. I sure hope Loreili gets better soon.

She is refusing all food and water, even though my DH has been syringing it into her mouth all day, or at least, trying to. I believe that we may lose Lorelei before morning. She is shutting down.

Not unexpected, but very sad, nonetheless. Violet will have no more sisters to run with anymore since Lacy was the first from my flock to go, two of my three beautiful SLW girls, gone.
Zane is pretty much the same. He's in his sling right now. He raises up high on his hocks and gets around with the use of his wings. He will grip my fingers with his swollen foot, but not the other one. Not sure how long to give him, but I dont think it's quite time to give up yet.
Ruby and Rosemary are almost completely back to normal, other than laying.

so sorry about Lorelei but you have had such a turn around with the others and Zane will make it but it seems like it will take a lot of time for him. As long as he is eating and drinking and has that big heart.....................

Judy, I think she'll be gone before morning. She is barely breathing, just laying with her beak down in the shavings. I'd bet money it's ovarian cancer. I want to open her up like we did Lacy to see what we can find inside so we'll know. DH is resistant, but I think we need to do something to determine what killed our sweet Lorelei.
