I had another thought about her several times in the last couple of days. Could be she picked up a tapeworm. Eprinex probably would not have killed a tapeworm and that would have accounted for her symptoms. We'll know if we open her up. Ick. Someone suggested air sac mites and I hadn't heard of them, but have found out that chickens do get them and they have similar symptoms as TB, except for dry feathers and Lorelei's were very soft and beautiful.

So sorry. I had a Silver Lace just die for no reason a while back too. I wonder if they aren't very strong in general.

I know mine are the lowest on the pecking order. So sorry for all this mess of late.

Cyn- I am so sorry to hear about your loss.. but as I read your post about when she died, I was filled with a sense of how very blessed the both of you were. So many of the chickens we lose everyday die in a violent way (such is the nature of nature), but Lorelei passed from this world in the arms of a caregiver who loved her. I am sure in her own chicken way, she loved you as well.
She and Hawkeye will be waiting patiently for you at the Rainbow Bridge when you arrive in heaven. May God heal your heart

I haven't been on in a couple of days......I'm so sorry about Lorelei Cyn, but how special for both you & her to be together when it happened. It still pains me that we weren't home when Filomena died & I'll never know what happened to her. Your girl passed in peace & with love :aww We should all be so lucky.
I'm am so happy to hear your other girls are feeling better. How's Mr. Zane doing today?

I have been gone most of the day doing the monthly grocery trip, came home and cleaned out the nursery coop and layer coop and put fresh shavings, refilled waterers, etc. It's hot here and muggy and I have a lovely headache blooming. We haven't dealt with Lorelei yet. Someone mentioned Suede-Suede wasn't her man, so I doubt he even knows she's gone. Velvet and Skye used to fuss with Lorelei through the fence, so they may soon get that she's missing, though.
