I sure do, kiddo. We've been through the wringer lately, both losing our main men and sweet Wyandotte girls, too. I hope to replace the negative with the positive very soon with all my chicks coming up in the ranks.
I was watching my four 18-week-old Barred Rock pullets getting hormonal and investigating the nests, knowing that it's right at this time, I dont have a rooster for them, just as they come into maturity. Now, unless Zane pulls out of this, I'll have to wait for his baby brother, Dutch, to grow up to have fertile eggs and a protector for the flock.​

Morning, everyone. I haven't been out to check yet, but DH let everybody out a few minutes ago and said that Lorelei is still with us and came off the roost with everyone else. We heard a wild cackle chorus that just went on and on and I told him we'd better see if she'd fallen off the roost. Apparently, they'd just seen something scary out the window, probably one of the stray cats we have around here.

I'm happy she could at least get off of the roost with the rest of the chickens. Hopefully Zane will do something encouraging this morning too!
