I need some help. I have read i could use this on chickens, not sure the dose and how I give it to them. I gave the wazine 6 days ago was going to follow it up with ivermectin.

this is Zimecterin 1.87 paste for horses.

Thanks palmaran

I just dosed mine after wazine as well. I got no real answer either. What I did was, calculated my guess in all the chickens weight to be treated. Then squirted out the weight from the tube. Mixed in a gallon of water, then watered them. They all survived!

I have zimectrin gold. Use a BB size to give to your chickens,it's very potent stuff. It'll also kill tapeworms, but I prefer to use valbazen as an all around wormer after using wazine. I've used safeguard as well as ivermectin pour on as second wormers and rotate among the second wormers to prevent worm immunity to one particular wormer. You should wait at least 2 weeks before using the second wormer. Wormers are rough on their systems and about 2 days after use of wazine as well as the others, you should give your chickens yogurt mixed with canned beef catfood and scrambled egg mixed in with their feed to make a mash.(dont use eggs layed after worming) you must throw all eggs in the garbage for 2 weeks after wazine, 2 weeks after 2nd worming also. Giving them yogurt etc...will build up their immune system and the extra protein will bring their strength back.

So do i give them all a bb size dose in some bread? Or do I mix it in the water, what are you all doing? I did 1 ounce to one gallon wazine last sunday want to do a follow up with this wormer. The fellow in early post said to wait 2 weeks to re worm this would be one week is this ok?

Zimectrin is a paste, put a BB size on a small piece of bread and give one to each chicken, they'll gobble it right up. Your wazine dosage is correct...one ounce per gallon. After first using wazine, wait at least 2 weeks to reworm them with the zimectrin. The reason you should wait 2 weeks is your giving time for the roundworms get expelled or absorbed in their system. Remember, wormers are poisons. You dont want to introduce a 'new' poison so early as to either make your chickens ill or possibly kill them. Their immune systems will be weak after the worming.

Thank you very much. I will worm on sat 13 days following wazine. Now I notice you have the gold do you suggest gold over the regular? I have the regular. What is the difference?

Honestly I dont know what the difference is. The gold has 1.55% ivermectin and 7.75% praziquantel. I think the praziquantel is the wormer used to kill tapeworms. I know ivermectin kills roundworms and a host of other worms...gapeworm,cecal worm, gizzard worm just to name a few off the top of my head. I guess you might not have the praziquantel in yours but you'll have to check the label. The only reason I have the gold is because I was dealing with tapeworms a few months ago and found out from another BYC'er that zimectrin gold kills tapeworms. That's when I found out that valbazen kills tapeworms also. I dont think you have to worry about tapeworms unless you see one. Roundworms are the most common worms in chickens and can do alot of internal damage. If you get a chance, read "threehorses" messages on worms. She is the queen of worms here in this forum and explains in detail the in and outs of worms/worming. I follow her instructions to the letter when it comes to worming.

You are correct all it has is (ivermectin 1.87%). I thank you for your help. I am going to look for this threehorses worm post.
