So two weeks ago I had some eggs hatch. One of them pipped on day 18 and died. Its beak was out and I poked it and moved it, no response and no breathing. It was stiff. I candled the egg the next day and everything went fuzzy which usually happens with dead eggs. That same egg later hatched on day 23! No, I didn't mix it up with another egg, it was the only White OE I had hatching at that time. So he's my zombie chick. He hasn't tried to eat my brains yet, and he's darn cute and very healthy. The first few days were difficult for him, and it took him a week to finally be up to par with his siblings, but he's dang fine now. And DINKY! He's so tiny! Is this normal? Wouldn't he have become dehydrated and died if he was alive during those 5 days? Is it possible that he really DID die and somehow came back to life? My friend said he might of had a bacterial infection during hatch and somehow survived it. At first I just brushed it off, but I started thinking about it again and I'm totally baffled! He's out of the woods now, I'll try to get pics tomorrow. He needs a special name that reflects his... special situation. lol

So here's my little zombie. Ain't he just darlin? His toes are crooked, I'm going to fix them, just haven't gotten to it yet.

Maybe he's like the title character in "Robot Chicken" on Cartoon Network. If you've ever heard the beginning where the evil professor says "It's ALIVE" you'd know why I mentioned it.
