Vote: Hootie Hatcher.
Baby: She's adorable!! Mom told me that I was in a hurry to come out and came out butt first before the doc could get there. She ended up w/27 stitches. While at home before I could walk, she had me sitting in in a "walker thingy" and stepped out of the room for just...
X3 congrats to TTMom---Amelia is adorable!! Love her name, too.
It does sound like she and Bee have the same b'day. How fun is that!!! Is Amelia's official b'day 4/22 then? Sorry, I wasn't looking at dates that closely on the posts. Bee, your b'day on 4/21 or 4/22???
Celebrating the Resurrection with everyone!!
So happy, Bee, that this experiment was successful. And, sorrowful that the last one didn't make it.
I'd like to suggest a name for your method..... in memory of your first chick. The Hootie Hatcher. Maybe a new hybrid line is in the name...
I'm all for simply funny April Fool's jokes---like several have said, I don't ever like to make someone look foolish or do anything mean spirited.
Now I have a problem, though....... I have a mind that thinks in pictures...... It didn't take me long to go from "tin-foil hat" conspiracy...
Pete, thanks so much for sharing pics and stories of your birds. They are truly awesome!!! You should be VERY PROUD of what you've developed---bragging rights are very much deserved by you. Now that I see what can be accomplished with some planning, I'll definitely work on a breeding plan for...
YIKES!! How does one edit a "reply??" Anywho, I was trying to tell Bee thanks for her explanation about the broody hens and they have to step up and volunteer to be a mommie.
So Cool! Loooonnnngggg time ago, I read/heard that "Coincidence is a miracle in which God chooses to remain anonymous." LOVE IT!!! We've been blessed to be part of so many "coincidences."
Bee, Forgive my ignorance.....I don't have chicks yet and am on the learning curve. Since you already have hens, and their heat doesn't require electricity, buying something, and meets your other requirements, would they be available to keep your new chicks warm??? It sounds like just because...
I'm not sure age has anything to do with it. My Mom (in her mid 70s) cooks herself with one during the winter and has for decades. I detest them and use a down comforter, like you. They dry the skin too much!!!
So sorry to hear about Hootie. Prayers for your back and your Mom & Dad. Ditto to all the previous posts.
Cowpoke's list is perfect and we hope you'll share this since it sounds like you're still tweaking your set-up.
This is something I've always believed and read somewhere in the distant past. It is the struggle that makes them strong......kinda like our struggles that make us strong!! God's system works for both species, it seems.
HI Bee, So sorry about the 2 chicks who didn't make it. You still have one cutie pie from this grand hatching method. Take a day to grieve but please don't give up on this wonderful method. You know you did everything in your power to help these chicks--so be kind to yourself. The strong one...
