Due to an unfortunate chain of events this past week, I've made the difficult decision to liquidate all of my stock. It has been a pleasure getting to know all of you, and I appreciate the knowledge many of you have graciously shared with me. I hope to someday rejoin the club in hopes of...
I didn't get started hatching until late this year, but I'm pretty excited about the juveniles I have in my grow out pens. I'm getting lots of dark eyes and slate legs, but am still struggling with loose wings and size could always be better. I'm seeing some really good looking birds on the...
I got a dozen from http://www.muddyfeathersfarm.com a couple months ago. Brant's packing methods were superb and even with postal delays I ended up with 7 chicks. I would not hesitate to buy from him again, in fact I'm on his list for another dozen. A+++ seller!
Does anyone have heritage turkeys? I've been looking in my area for a while with no luck. I am looking for Royal Palm, Bourbon Red, and/or Sweetgrass. I could do eggs, poults, or adults. Thanks!
I snapped a few photos of the crew a couple days ago with my phone... Just thought I would share . It's been busy here with becoming NPIP certified and hatching chicks. I think I may need a bigger incubator
Good to hear from you Connie! You're more than welcome to use any of the photos I have of my birds here if they suit your fancy. I believe I also sent photos earlier this year when the newsletter came out but never received an email back, so I'm not sure if it went through or not.
Is anyone selling hatching eggs yet? My mother and I have been looking for this variety for quite some time with no luck, so thought I would try here. We are willing to pay as much as needed for quality stock, and the darker the eggs, the better! Thank you!!! :D
Does anyone breed Blue Copper Marans and is shipping eggs yet? My mother and I have been looking for this variety for quite some time with no luck, so thought I would try here. We are willing to pay as much as needed for quality stock, and the darker the eggs, the better! Thank you!!!
Thanks Kari, that's a lot of eggs! I'm hoping I won't have more incubator issues again this year. My orders are starting to pile up as well. I've had to refer quite a few people to you because they were wanting chicks immediately.
I guess I've never payed close attention to how my chicks feather out. That would be an interesting project to do!
I set 30 IB eggs on 3-1. We've been going out to check the coop for eggs every 45 minutes or less and sometimes we still get cold eggs. Fingers crossed for a decent hatch rate
I finally got with the program and set my first batch of 30 Iowa Blue eggs tonight. I also ordered Blue Copper Marans eggs from a breeder in Arizona for layers and will be setting them Saturday when they come. So excited!
I am currently looking into shipping my Iowa Blue eggs with either Spee Dee or USPS to help those who are interested in the breed be able to more easily source them.
My question is, what is your favorite method for shipping eggs? Least favorite? I would very much appreciate pictures if you have...
Does anyone know of a locker or individual in north central Iowa that processes meat birds? I've heard of Amish around Northwood that do it but have no way of contacting them. TIA!
You have such a way with words Curt! I've tried several breeds before and never have I encountered such a welcoming group of people. A big reason I stuck with the breed is that I always feel like I have people I can reach out to. I would have likely gave up a long time ago if everyone wasn't so...
I was going through my Facebook feed this morning and while checking some of the farm groups I belong to, I come across a comment that "there is only one variety of the Iowa Blue and people are ruining this breed." LOL I had to share.
