My poop board is 4.x 8 and the roost are right above it. We staggered them. First board is maybe 2 ft off the ground and we go up from there for a total of 3 roosts. They loved it all winge rand clean up is so easy. Best of luck.
Hello fellow Okies, long hard winter, but as first time chicken owners the chickens all survived! Last September I bought four ameraucanas! they all turned out to be Roos and am looking for some pullets or sexed chicks. If anyone can point me in the right direction of ameraucana chicken...
Kyz - are your chickens blue ameraucanas? I've got 3 only 2 months old and try to work with them everyday. They have really come around since I bought them. Also have a 1/2 barred rock and 1/2 ameraucana. She will be pretty I'm hoping. How old are your chickens? They sure are pretty...
Well I have heeded everyone's advice regarding wind and warmth for the little ameraucanas. They have been outside in the dog run with the dog igloo and a heated light since Sunday night. Sunday my DIL taught me how to wrap a dog run made out of chain length fence with plastic sheeting. (geez...
Ksane, that's just it there is no wind control. It will whip right through that dog cage. it's more like a dog run 10 x 12 or close. Only the kennel will protect them with the heated lamp. Trying to talk DH to put a tarp around the cage for wind protection. Also hoping your chicken is doing...
@bardies, will it be a shock to their system to put them outside in December? I certainly understand letting them get some body fat and more feathers.
@trues - hoping our weatherman is correct on Sunday! Would love to put the little ones outside on still green grass.....
Need some advice on my chicks blue ameraucanas from fellow okies. These chicks are probably 4 - 6 weeks old at most. I have kept them in the utility room in a rabbit cage and they are making a mess of it daily. I have a dog run with a dog kennel in it outside with pine shavings in the...
Perfect, for out of towners coming, it will be off 412 or 244 same thing and hwy. 64. Can't wait, this will be my first time looking/admiring Serama's.:woot
Ksane, Keystone Lake is between Tulsa and Stillwater, off Hwy. 51. Not exactly sure where on the lake yet so it could be off a different hwy. Basically look up Mannford or Cleveland, it is around both small towns.
Welcome as well! You might call the ag teachers in your area, perhaps they can refer you to someone. I don't know a thing about showing but will follow this thread to learn as you do. :)
NanaKat, you might have a point there. I do see a black dot through the film of stuff. Perhaps I overreacted and just assumed he was sick. Since he was with so many other fowl, it could quite possibly have been pecked out or something else could have happened to it. And it could very well be...
Oh your chickens are just gorgeous! Thanks for sharing. I'm just fascinated by the polish breed and have so much to learn. Going by how you described your hens and roos, mine must be a roo. His feathers are mostly pointed, no red face at all and definitely not bearded. I upped the tylan to...
They have been on tylan 50 injectable since Sunday night. But I was only giving them 1/4 ml. Will up it tonight to 1/2! And thank you for admiring them as much as I do.
I love our poop board! I did quite a bit of research on whether to put one in or not. I don't have one single complaint. Put our roost up high enough that cleaning and mopping are not a problem at all. Only takes me about 30 minutes to shovel the poo off and mop too! Our hen house is 15 x...
Really, I just assumed he was a roo because his hair is long, but I really don't know too much about Polish breeds. Just what I have researched It is rather small so maybe he is a SHE! LOL :he. I know what you mean about having to put one down, they are so beautiful and this one is very...
Took some pics of the newbies. The polish wouldn't cooperate as well today, he is catching on to our daily routine of cleaning out his eye.
