This is Penguin. We found him in a cardboard box in the park last year. He has turned into a very beautiful boy..has a good attitude, let's me pick him up and give him love. I do not have the space for him anymore and I do not want to have to make him live in a cage. Free to a good home, he...
This little guy came from my bantam game hen. I have never seen one this small before. It has such a little body the wings are way longer than its torso. The silkies in the picture are the same age. The silkies are bantams too but look at the size diff.
Is there chicken dwarfism?
I have been using broody hens extensively this spring, and I didn't candle this set of eggs until last night. They are due to hatch today. The chick is alive in there and wiggling around. What do you think will happen? Does it have a chance?
It has been peeping for two days. The rest of the babies are hatched and eating already. The egg had hairline fractures from the hens fighting over nests so maybe that dried it out? I opened an air hole and since it was cracked it fell apart anyways, but her beak wasn't even close to poke out...
Hi. I have had my five female quail going on nine months. They have a nice habitat and are well cared for. They never fight or peck each other.
For the past few weeks I have seen one quails eyes having some bumps around them. They will come and go, sometimes not very noticeable at all. Just the...
Hi I have four rabbits, they have lived on my boyfriends ranch for years. People just gave them to him. I think I know a few of the breeds but I am not sure.
I think first is a Netherland dwarf, hes a boy
Next my guess is a New Zealand..?
Maybe a lionhead?
And this big sweet soft guy I...
Four months old and they still love their mama. They still all stick close to each other, and snuggle as close to mom at night as they can.
She is still in mom mode, however, and still has not laid an egg...but we don't mind, she is so happy with them.
I think he is some kind of game bantam but I don't know for sure. Any help would be appreciated! He's a rather small guy, but proud and loves the ladies.
I have two broody hens. One, my dear sweet Hoppy, had a babe born on the 30th, the 1st, the 3rd, and the 7th.
The hen out in the coop just hatched one today (the 14th), and has two more due any moment now.
I don't want babies in that coop because it isn't made for babies, and most of all...
I made myself an incubator and just last night I hatched my first baby! I have a mama hen that hatched out three last week, so as it was pipping I gave it to her last night. She grabbed it and tucked it right under her, and it is now happily situated with it's siblings and mama.
I used a...
This baby pipped in the morning yesterday, but didn't hatch until about eleven at night. I checked on it this morning and it looked like this.
It was hatched by a mama hen. It was perfectly fine last night. Moved it's head about just fine. My boyfriend thinks that maybe mama hen sat on it...
My moved in with my boyfriend not to long ago and have taken over caring for his chickens. Prior to this, his parents cared for them (very poorly in my opinion).
Keep in mind this is my first experience with chickens but I have been learning and studying a great deal about them.
One of my...
Hello all, I am new to chickens but it has quickly become my favorite pastime..I have spent hours reading about the different breeds but I still can't decipher what breed this female is.
My boyfriend bought three of them a few years back from a feed store and she is the only one left.
She is...
This little guy (or girl, idk) was found in a cardboard box at the park, abandoned, and was given to me. It was just a peep a few weeks ago, not sure of the age but its growing so fast and so fluffy rather quickly. It is also very friendly and docile, I'm guessing he's been held a lot.
I am new...
