You can order them in season from Ideal hatchery in tx. I think next year I will have some! Also Ideal will ship smaller quantities, at higher prices thou.
Yea, I have it too. At least it is not life threating but it sure interferes with a normal social life. Hope you can get some relief. Best wishes, Sourdough
I think you should go to 1/4 inch or 1/2 inch mesh hardware cloth to keep out snakes, rats, mice, weasels, and other skinny vermin. It should be on all sides and the bottom, unless you have a solid bottom or top. I see you have a wood bottom which should work unless it has holes. Good luck...
I was thinking about getting some chicks from ideal also. Maybe we could combine an order? I will be out of town till about wen. but send me an email if you want to do it. I am near Lampasas. I am thinking about some bantam wyandottes.
David, Tell the parents of your grandchild they did a good job. Can't have enough grandkids! I am going to Arkansas to see my youngest one next week! Haven't seen him since Thanksgiving!
On the subject of hay it is best to not to feed them to animals that have a problem with mold since they are stored outside and can get quite moldy. I was feeding round bales to my horses a few (maybe more than a few!) years ago. Had a problem and had the vet out. He took care of the problem...
I got a email from Ideal saying we could order on line again. I went and looked at it. They still have a bunch of problems with their web site but I would say it probably works, sort of. At least you can bring some things up.
I was kneelling down near my silkies trying to be not too threatening when one bird gave a chirp and they all came charging to me! I was feeling pretty darned pleased with my self when I looked up and 2 buzzards were circling over us. Oh well I will take what appriciation I can get.

It looks like out of the 7 remaining i have 1 hen, one maybe hen, and 5 roos.(or maybe 6) Almost a total bummer. I hope that hen has a stout constitution!
6 x22= 132. 12 x16 =192. So if my math is correct then the 12 x 16 will give them 60 more square feet to do what chickens do. But then it is not all about how big it is.
