You might try a butterfly closure if you can get it to stick to the skin. Superglue works on wounds, but I think it might be a nightmare trying to hold the skin together while you apply it, and not getting feathers into the glue. Or yourself.
It does look pretty superficial--personally I'd...
Whiting True Blues
Hi folks, I've just placed an order with Murray McMurray for 25 female Whiting True Blues.
This is a breed developed for MMcM that breeds true for consistent blue eggs. You can see the description here:

Hi folks,
One of the "pullets" I got as day-old chicks at the end of April has started to cock-a-doodle-doo :-(
He's a gorgeous blue Ameraucana. The pix I have aren't great quality (my chickenyard is roofed, so it's all shade) but you can get the idea. I live in a residential neighborhood in...
Yep, same experience. And I got a lame excuse about how the color doesn't breed true, that you get a certain percentage of "wild" type chicks. Well, out of a dozen hatched, I had two that were black, and one of them was deformed and not viable. The other was a cockerel, and I live in town, so I...
Hi North Carolina peeps,
For anyone from this area, I've started a Facebook group for chicken keepers in and around the Wilmington NC area. It's a public group, so please feel free to join:

We just went down to Sam's and got a 5000 BTU unit for $120. It says the annual cost to run is $64, so even if I double that since I live down here in Satan's waiting room, I'm still way ahead of having the electrician come out.
I lost an Ameraucana two days ago :-( It's so hot in my chickenhouse that they won't lay in there--they're all finding places under bushes and things. One of my Ameraucanas has gone broody up under a storage building, and no matter what barricades I put up, she manages to get back under there...
I think it will work with any kind of sand. I use two stacked sieves--one with 1/4" mesh and one underneath it with 1/8" mesh. So I can't imagine any kind of sand that wouldn't go through. You can go up to 1/2", but I think some of the poop balls would fall through at that size.
Your poop may...
I did! It took over 24 hours, but all three hatched, under the close scrutiny of my adorable little neighbor.
Two were the "wild" type with chipmunk markings:
But I did get one sooty black one. It took way longer to hatch, and was crippled--its legs splayed out so it could hardly walk...
Do you mind if I ask if this seller's name begins with a B?
I just hatched out a batch of eggs I got from eBay, that purported to be pure AC. Of the three that passed candling and hatched, one is the expected sooty black, but the other 2 are chipmunk. Fine print at the bottom of the seller's...
I have three Ayam Cemani eggs on day 21. About 16 hours ago I had my first external pip, then nothing... nothing. You can definitely hear cheeping in there, but it's hard to tell which eggs over the hum of the incubator. This morning one small external pip on a second egg. Excuse me while I go...
I'm thinking that the problem isn't exactly the shellessness (hence, no nutritional issue) but rather that the hen is laying at the wrong point in the egg-production cycle. The egg develops overnight, and she's just releasing it way too early.
