Terrible, horrible, no good, very bad rooster.

I never had any problems with my rooster. Out of some of the suggestions, I would first try putting the treats out first and then let the chickens out to find them. I think it would be too late to try picking it up and condition him to get use to you. When they are chicks is the best time to...

Testing My Dogs with the Flock

My other boxer that I had, before she got cancer and passed away, was very obedient and was trained around the chickens. The training started when they were chicks and my other boxer was about 10 or 11. She was very protective of "her" flock.

Should I get a "guard goose"?

My friend has goats with her chicken as added protection against predators so adding two geese with your ducks would be good. The goats get along with the chickens so there shouldn't be any problems pairing geese with the ducks.

Creating Experimental Black Crele Chickens (Different Genetics, new variety)

I had a chicken that was a Rhode Island Red/ Americana. I named her Tweety. As she got older, she became a beautiful bird. I had my chickens at a friend's house and when she moved, I had to give all of my chikens away and gave then to another good friend down the street from me so that's where...

Testing My Dogs with the Flock

I can't do that with my1 1/2 yr old boxer Zoey. She killed two morning doves last year and she's constantly chasing birds out in the back so she can't be trusted around chicken when out of their pen. Now she did okay yesterday when I took her over to a friend's house and they were in their pen...

Irresponsible neighbor and his roaming chickens

I hope that the people who bought his property will put up a chicken coop or a higher fence to contain the chickens. It's wrong to let them roam outside of the yard.

Irresponsible neighbor and his roaming chickens

That's not a nice thing to say. Maybe she works and hasn't had time to answer. Be more thoughtful to what you say or don't say anything at all. She is asking for suggestions not smart aleck remarks.

Irresponsible neighbor and his roaming chickens

I think some of the suggestions are good but having to put up a taller fence shouldn't be your responsibility. I would think trying to get a hold of animal control (if you have one in your area) and tell them about the chicken nuisance you are having and see what they suggest for you to do since...

I'm sorry for your loss. Another thing you can do is set up a trail camera. Those are the type of cameras that hunters use. You would need to put in sd card (and batteries) in it to capture more pictures of the predictors that are coming in the pen and killing your chickens

    Tweety quit laying eggs

Tweety started laying eggs about a week and a half ago and was laying them consistently for 4 days and she has not laid any more since. It's been a week since she laid her last egg. Is this typical of a 6 month old house chicken? I do take her outside when the weather is permitting her and leave...

Poll: What kind of tricks do you teach your chickens?

I've taught Tweety, my house chicken, to get up on my hand or up on my legs when sitting on the floor by saying "up". She also knows "down" when I want her to get down. She comes when I tell her "come" and pat the floor. Sometimes she comes when I call her. When she is outside and it's time to...

    Tweety has diahrrea

I've been putting electrolytes with microbials in her water everytime I change and clean her waterer. It's the same as what in giving the chicks. When she's outside we don't know what she's eating but in the house it's strictly her egg laying food and a few vegetable scraps, if she even eats...

    Tweety has diahrrea

I think my house chicken,Tweety, has diarrhea. I let her out of her cage down in the basement this morning and she came into the first room with me when I was filling the chicks food tray (they are in a brooder separate from Tweety) and had explosive diarrhea, not a little amount but about the...
