He might part with just some females, that's a big flock, but I can sympathize with not wanting to see birds end up in a dead end. I'll PM you his contact info.

I did. But it's so close to border thought I'd put it in both. What I mean by that is he's hoping to find people who will continue to breed them.

Hey guys, I'm posting because one of my non-Internet savvy friends is being forced by poor health to get rid of his flock of Buff Leghorns. He's been working with them a couple decades and is hoping people will want to continue his work, and asked me to help him find homes for them. The birds...

I agree entirely with what you said. As a show exhibitor type person I'm not concerned. But since it's chick season and there are swap meets coming up, thought it was worth sharing. It's highly highly unlikely any birds in the show will be under the 18 week age which is apparently the oldest...

This is in Washington but thought y'all might want to see it. This outbreak alert has been sent to present and former NPIP producers to confirm the diagnosis of very virulent Infectious Bursal Disease virus in Washington State . WSDA received laboratory confirmation of vvIBDV (PCR and...

Marge Best, Karen Larson (Catdance Silkies), Cheryl Butler, the list goes on, there are some excellent Silkies in the Northwest. Try to attend the PNPA show April 18-19 at Clark County Fairgrounds right across the river in Vancouver. It would be well worth it.

Good ones. I have yet to see any decent quality birds sold at a swap.

Bud Alston and John Jensen would be the two folks I would highly recommend in the area with Rhode Island Reds. Bud is on here username: budsbirds and has a website http://budsbirds.webs.com Would have to look up John's contact info.

Neat. I like being called names. Can't bully me, sorry. I have talked to vets about it plenty actually, I'm not some newbie that goes around screaming about the sky is falling. Feel free to constantly fret about it though if it makes you feel better. I'm done commenting on something so...

It is true. And that's why it's a bit silly to worry about. Unless your flock is in a totally controlled environment (no wild birds or rodents which can carry it as well), they can and will be exposed to it.

Really not cool to bully and slander a good breeder all over the internet on an unconfirmed rumor. Even if it turned out to be true I bet close to 90% of the people on this group have it, if your birds range at all, or if wild birds can get into your coops you probably have MG. It's just...

Ecoglows are wonderful. Much cheaper to run, and I like the slightly lower temp, and not having light 24/7. I made the switch this year to them and am going to be ordering about 8 more of them this coming year. Edit: And when I mean cheaper to run, if you're using a heat lamp by the time...

Just conducting a census in the northwest, do you (or anyone you know) raise Langshans in either bantam or large fowl? If so please let me know what variety either here in thread or via PM. Trying to get an idea how many are out here.

Seconding this. Their Cornish are to die for.

Sussex tend to be undersized. And since you mentioned wanting good show birds for 4-H as well, they don't judge on temperament, these are livestock animals, not pets. Breed from the best and biggest bird would be my advice. It will benefit you more in show room and on the table.

Hope to see some of y'all at the PNPA show. Not showing today but splitting a sale booth with a friend. We're in the middle of the wall opposite concession stand right next to one of those pillars, and I'm hard to miss (6'3" 280 longish hair for a guy), so say hi.

I have no idea what "lick the stick" means. And I'm perfectly aware that its the Oregon thread, living so close to the Oregon/Washington border I frequent both states threads. I also did not, and never do "stir things up", I do share my experience and knowledge when appropriate. But today...

Do you not show your birds? Do you really think nobody exhibiting their birds there has ever ever had a respiratory issue in their flock? Do you depopulate your entire flock if you have respiratory issues? If not, do you sell birds? For the record I haven't had a sick bird since starting up...
