How many days is the incubation period for d'anvers? Same as silkies (21 days)? I'm doing a test hatch with 9 d'anver eggs and about 40 silkie eggs. Most of the silkie eggs aren't fertile but I've been saving everything since the end of July! It should be interesting.

Backwoods Bantams, thank you. That's very interesting. Makes you wonder where it comes from genetically. Is it from breeding with silkies in the past? I'm not sure of any other chickens with blue earlobes.

What color are d'anver earlobes supposed to be? I have splash quail d'anvers. 3 girls and 3 boys. I notice that one of the girls has blue earlobes like my silkies, but all others seem to have pale red earlobes. Which is SOP or doesn't it matter? Thanks in advance. ;)

Thank you, Chickee. :) You'll probably start getting eggs by October but maybe not. The other 2 girls' combs are still pink compared to the girl that laid the egg. They sure are a fun breed of little chickens.

Chickee, the first picture is 1 of the roosters strutting his stuff & the other picture is the 3 girls dust bathing. Names are Rusty, Dusty and Rascal & Pearl, Opal and Oyster.

They are splash, quail (according to Aubrey) They started out as plain white and have blossomed into pretty birds -especially the boys. The boys are very splashy.

That's funny comparing the D'anvers to silkies. Of course not all Silkies are like that. My Mysty Blue is the only one with fertile eggs (Leo Pierre LOVES her) and she has never gone broody. It works to everyone's advantage though....I tell her to keep on popping out eggs and everyone else...
