They have wheaten maran genes. I have some like these and I got a cream white maran out of the eggs. The mossy chicks will stay mossy and the blue chicks will have yellowish feathers as adults where they have rusty red.
yes pullets will fight with other chickens but roosters have a very specific way of fighting. have you ever seen a cockfight? the hackle feathers on the neck will stand up
Rose combs are not from black copper marans, I'm guessing they came from an easter egger hence the olive egger. And i think you have some roos, the one in the 2nd to last photo looks like a boy to me.
I really really wish people who sell birds would try to inform themselves more. For example...
That splash has too much white, feathers and all. Even the legs seem to be almost pink like a buff orpington's. Maybe it's still too young and will darken with age. I guess different bloodlines have different shades of darkness on the splash. I said blue/black because not a lot of people know...
Well, there is the body type stablished by the APA for the copper maran breed that you can read here http://maranschickenclubusa.com/Varieties.html. And most everyone here agrees that better egg layers usually have more space between the legs/ bigger hip bones.
They don't seem to have ameracauna genes. I think they just need some work on bringing them up to the standard. They don't have to be perfect if they are going to be egg layers and not really used for show. I would just work on egg size, egg color and body type if for backyard egg layers.
