Hi. Haven't been on here in a long time, but have a question. My ducks have pretty much stopped laying. Is it a daylight thing like chickens? And, do ducks molt like chickens do? I'm seeing lots of duck feathers in the coop where they stay at night. They go to the lake during the day.

My runner duck started limping a bit yesterday. Today, her foot is very swollen on the joint between the webbing. Do I need to do something to it? Lance it? Soak it? Why would it be swollen? I don't see any holes of blood. Anybody have any suggestions?

Needing quick advice: I have a Khaki Campbell that went broody. My Runner Duck always laid her egg next to the KC. So, when the KC went broody, she started collecting eggs. Well, she's not stopping! Every morning my Runner will go and lay her egg next to the KC, the KC steals it before I...

My bantam chicken hatched two Runner Ducks either last night or this morning. I wasn't expecting them until tomorrow or Thursday. One died. It looked like another hen had pecked at its nose. I had planned to move this mother today. We have been out of town. Darn. Anyway, here is the new...

I have a female runner duck that is now about 29 1/2 weeks old and is still not laying eggs. Is this normal? Do they do like chickens and not lay when the days are short? Although I have to say, my chickens are laying very well right now. I just wondered. We have walked around the lake...

I'm sorry, I didn't mean that I would actually beat him or hit him or anything like that.....I can see why you would think that with the way I phrase it. I would however, maybe, shoe him away. Or even rehome him if he was a weirdo.....but I love my little flock family! Thanks for letting me...

Ok, question. I have a female runner duck that is about 22 weeks old. No eggs yet, but I have a rooster(chicken) that is 18 weeks old that is mounting this duck! Is this natural or should I bonk this rooster in the head! Will anything come of this? I just think this is weird! What should...

I need some advise. I just hatched some runner ducks on Tues, the 27th. One was stuck in the shell for many hours. I had to help it out. He seems to have a lame leg. At first it just stayed straight out behind him. I taped his two legs together for a day or so. He now moves around ok, but...

We took our baby runner ducks down to the lake for the first time today. We had to place them in the lake twice before they decided they loved it! We kept them in the shallow area since they still don't have their big boy and girl feathers yet. We had to go in to get them out to get them...

You might try carrying them to the furthest point and then letting them walk slowly back with you. Maybe spend a little time at that spot so they get use to it with you there.

Runners and chicks first day outside to "Play". We put the ducks in with the chicks and they all snuggle up together! So cute! I think the ducks have taught the chicks how to get "all the pretty little ducks in a row"
