Hopefully I clicked the right photo. On the right is one of my EEs and on the left one of the Cream legbars. No names thus far.
Better shot of the eggers feathering. They're a little over 2 weeks today
Ok, good. Just making sure. They only do it under the light so it makes sense. They look like they get bigger by the hour and at least one is starting to seem curious of the world outside of the brooder.
@autumnhearth: I'll try to get some decent photos soon.
I've seen two chicks lay on their sides with their wing down. Normal? Doesn't seem to be anyhing wrong thouh. Eating like pigs and growing like weeds.
Its amazing how fast these babies are growing. Two week birthday is already almost here on Monday. It's obvious which breed is which now. The Easter eggers shanks are very clearly different than the others. There's a higher and lower portion of the brooder. A few will go higher and test their...
One of the chicks seems to be having issue with pseudo pasty butt though the vent isn't blocked. She ran when I went to check her this morning and immediately relieved herself when the coast was clear.
They won't let you pick them up now? I think everyone hates USPS tracking. Either doesn't update until delivery or its an hour or two behind. My chicks went from Cleveland to Carrboro NC then to Fayetteville then to me. No updates on them actually leaving Carrboro or Fayetteville.
@wildivy: Meyer offering express shipping and shipping during the week actually made me switch my order from McMurray. With MM hatching/shipping on Friday/Saturday is guarantees an extra day of travel unnecessarily. There'll be DOAs with any hatchery but it's simply bad practice to needlessly...
There's one that has very similar markings to this chick but has a slight muff. The lines are a bit fuzzier.
I think this is one legbar. But it's the only one with the coloring.
@autumnhearth: I would hope someone can ID those pricy birds, lol. I think I have them but they're two different colors overall. I know which one is the meal maker since its the only chick with black on the shanks. Two of the lighter ones have muffs so I'm going with EEs. I'll get some photos today
Ok my chicks are in. No DOAs and all seem very lively. No idea which are the legbars and I've only pinned two of the Easter eggers down by their little beards. I'll most likely post photos later on today or tomorrow.
I ordered GLW, EEs, Barnvelders (3 each), and splurged on two cream legbars. They're going to be my first chicks. Just called the post offices and they said I'll receive a call as soon as they're in and can go pick them up. Just don't know which office they'll end up in. The closest one said...
My chicks are due to hatch/ship tomorrow and hopefully arrive Tuesday. All of the anxiety I didn't feel the past few months since ordering is catching up to me now
@kkwinwy: I almost did the same thing. Went to tractor supply for some bantams then realized they have a 6 minimum. Talked myself out of it. I initially placed a larger order and a friend had to talk me out of it. "First flock so you don't want to risk overwhelming yourself" essentially but less...
My chicks are due to hatch on April 27 and (hopefully) arrive the following day. Placed the order in December and haven't felt anxious and impatient about it until this week. Now I'm in "holy s*** do I have everything ready for them?!?!?!" mode. I wonder what I'll be like if I ever have kids.
@trsturself: That explains it. I don't always catch the whole story on this thread. CL is the last place to ever look for real estate. Hopefully the situation will work out for you. That's a lot to ask of someone.
