You all crack me up!
My first poult of the season hatched this morning and another one popped out a few minutes ago. I only had 3 eggs due this week but laying is slowly starting back up. Seeing as how these look slate or lavender, I'm guessing it's the young blue girl I have outside. I'm...
I miss her and still think about her often. She was the life of this thread and an amazing friend. I haven't seen Ralphie in a while either. I miss his goofy attitude and complaints about dux lol
She passed away 2 days ago. I miscalculated though. She was 8 1/2. I have 1 original turkey left, Miss Sweet Pea.
In loving memory of my sweet Pebbles. She was always the leader of the broody bunch each year and had the shinniest feathers ever.
It looks like I may be losing another one of my originals :( Miss Pebbles has been showing some slight balance issues lately. I was thinking maybe arthritis acting up with the cold. Tonight she has almost no balance. She's 9 1/2 years old. She and Sweet Pea are the last of my original turkey...
To add on to this, the guy that bought my 3 turkeys was only at the swap to look, had no intention of buying anything so had no cage or anything. He had a single cab truck and a passenger.... those 3 turkeys, who aren't even in the lurkey category, rode on his passenger's lap for the 20 minute...
So we took 3 turkeys to the swap today to downsize our flock. All 3 sold but unfortunately DD was with me and since someone else had young royal palms and we had 0, we brought 2 more home
I have 1 white leghorn and she is a smart little brat. I can't imagine anything being able to catch her nutty butt! She's always the one in the garage, getting in to things or sneaking in to the turkey coop to lay her egg. She knows every secret passage and opening in the fence. She's also my...
We have substantial wild flocks near my house. I'm talking like 80-100 or more when they flock up but I've never seen them come in my yard. Even in the spring with the toms gobbling and the hens calling. I always thought it was weird. I'm still waiting to see a wild one come check out the flock...
Mine took a few weeks to start selling this year but that was because of the weather I think. After that, they sold as quick as they hatched. I only kept 2 for myself this year so we'll see how they grow out. Right now they're in a brooder with my blind pullet that I hatched out about 3 months...
