I'm sorry you lost so many. If I were you I would do some research on why chicks don't position correctly toward hatch time. A couple things that came across my mind. With the power outages did you loose power at all late in incubation for longer then the 30 minute cooling period? I know the...

Thank you! Yes, that looks like the perfect solution. That's what I was trying to do with the tissues but after a day they would settle in and I'd have to keep adding more.

Ok, so you guys know what I mean when I say the eggs sorta slip out of place and are in funky positions? Last time I took tissues and tried to fill in all the gaps. Can you post a pic of the strips? I might be able to find them in the replacement part section of the website.

I have the eco and I bought the cradle too. The ONLY reason I would get the advanced would be for the humidity pump. I really struggle with humidity, especially at lockdown, with the Eco. It likes lower humidity and I like higher humidity! ;) I don't like having to remove the whole tray to add...

Ok, thank you!! Yes, that's pretty much exactly what I did! They should have a warning somewhere that says don't submerge base...now that I think of it, it probably says that in the manual! :/

How do you guys clean out the yellow plastic base? I thought it was all plastic so last time I soaked it in disenfectant then when I picked it up, it weighed a thousand pounds. I took the screws out and found that the inside has foam, wood and metal inside it! Took forever for me to air dry the...

I read at the beginning of this thread that some people drill a hole in the side and run tubing directly to the well, so that they never have to remove the egg tray to add water. Problem is that voids the warranty. I would fill it up quick on day 19 before pips, as SC said. Congrats!!

48 hours later and it has not dropped 1 %, holding steady at 85%. I thought you had the pump? Do you still use a paper towel at lockdown so it doesn't work so hard? I have a bunch extra of the zorb if you want me to mail you a piece. Oh yeah, 103 is really high! Crazy! Yes, I do the...

I wanted to mention that I've been experimenting with humidity at lockdown in the Eco 20. I purchased a material called "zorb" to use as a wic instead of a paper towel. Well it has worked tremendously. Using a paper towel was keeping humidity at 52% overnight (by morning). I cut a piece of zorb...

It should be 99.5. What is it reading? Awesome hatch!! Congrats! Should be 99.5. Once my temp gets stable it literally does not move.

I couldn't agree more!! Every time I've had bad results the eggs went through Atlanta!! I use a cheap one too! This is actually the one I normally use, it's just a cheap reptile hygrometer. It doesn't really matter how cheap it is. The key is to calibrate it frequently! I calibrate before...

You can fit 36 silkie eggs! Don't know how many extras. I only used 2 rails and let the eggs support each other.

Blooie, it may have been me but not on this thread. But I can give you my rundown on shipped eggs...(and you can always pm me if you have more questions). When you unwrap them, do so carefully, and gently candle to see how damaged the air cells are. If they are ok (solid in the fat end) treat...

I will definitely try this! Someone else was just telling me about putting tape over the little hole that has the water drops next to it. I have a roll of that blue painters tape too! Thanks for the tip! These would be from Ravyn!! :ya I'm sorry to hear this! Yes, I've had to move eggs in...

Yes, I have both. I like the mini much better then the 20. I just wish it was bigger. I can only fit about a dozen eggs in the mini. I do use the mini as the hatcher also. It has an amazing view for hatching and holds humidity great for all of lockdown. I'm thinking of using the 20 as an...

Thanks!! Honestly, I started my flock from shipped eggs and since shipped eggs are so difficult, I was determined to research and experiment, and take notes every single day, to get the most chicks out of each batch of shipped eggs that I could. This was excellent practice for me. So by the time...

Excellent! My last 4 hatches were 100%,100%, 90%, 90%. I think hand turning is better for eggs anyway. I've read that the full turn from one side to the other, exercises the embryo and promotes circulation, (better then the slow rotating of an auto-turner) and creates stronger chicks. But I do...

I have incubated 15 silkie eggs at one time in the mini!! And 6 peafowl eggs!! Lol. I don't have the advanced. So I hand turn. The Eco does not have an egg tray. So you can squeeze them in...let me see if I have a pic... This is how I do shipped eggs in the mini... And my own eggs... That's...

I set 8 in the mini last week and am thinking of adding 3 more but not sure If I want to do a staggered hatch or save the 3 till I get more and set in the 20 next week. Hmmm...decisions, decisions. Good luck on the sets! I hope you update! Oh my goodness, that's quite a road trip! My...

As WV said, those temps are okay! I just got the 20 this winter and mine did not fluctuate as it rotated, that I noticed. Also, it can take awhile (a few hours) for the temp to regulate after you adjust it. But running anywhere from 99-101 will not hurt the eggs. Are these shipped eggs or local...
