13 of 17 that made it to lockdown hatched. 3 of 6 of my blue eggs looked like late quiters no inner pips. And 1 of my 2 fertile NH x was still alive inshell last night. Never pipped. Dis this afternoon.
I would take frost. We are expecting 3-6" of snow tonight into tomorrow here. Half hour north of me is looking at 10-12".
Chickies will be staying in the house a few more days before I dare put them in the outdoor brooder.
Im only using a 60watt it is less then 10" off the floor. 30 gal Temp brooder till they go in the outdoor with the heat plate. I was not sacrificing my heating pad for the cause this year.😁
1st pips in the bator!!! Have 5 pipped so far. Just hit day 20.
And this little lovely was hiding under moma when I got home. 🥰
Def gona need help with colors and parents!
My broody was sitting this morning. :celebrateThere were a few eggs pushed out from under her but I was not risking disturbing her again. Will check again after work. :fl
Locking down the bator tonight. But broody had to get moved. Mite problem. Went down to lock everyone up and she's off the eggs! They were cool but not cold. I placed her back in the nest and blocked the entrance, but what do I do?
Pray she sits tonight?
Go down and steal half the eggs for the...
Lock down tonight! on the bator and the broody gets moved to a mite free coop(hopefully) for the hatch.
Trying to figure out what aggs are going in what divider, for Id purposes. Think I will have a bunch of black chicks. . .maybe.
It was warm enough to check the eggs under my broody. Good thing too, two of the other girls broke in and left eggs in her nest. All eggs set under the broody looked dark with signs of life. I think they may be a few days ahead, and candling outside in the sun is not very accurate.
Did my 1st full candling . 4 clear unfertiles. All from my NH Hens. Only got 2 fertile and growing from them but 1 egg may be from a diff breed. Too many girls to keep track of. 😊 All others progressing nicely.
Havent checked under my broody yet, been waiting for the days to be above freezing...
