Five years ago today we brought Cleo home from a rescue..."on trial". We never took her back. 2019 2023 (November) She's 12 or 13 years old now.

The Lancashire Heeler is a medium to high energy dog. Intelligent, alert and friendly, they are quick to learn new tasks. A sturdy little dog with a short, weather-resistant coat of black and tan or liver and tan, they are affectionate with their owners, always happy, talkative and always ready...

I love large dogs, but I'm on my second one with joint issues. If they can't handle the outside stairs I face a serious situation, and difficult decision. I cannot lift 75-90# dogs. :hit I'm looking for something I can carry next time. Lancashire Heeler

Interesting. I'd never heard about littermate syndrome before. I just read several articles about littermate syndrome, which seems to be an issue most often when littermates are adopted at the same time. In the majority of articles I also just read puppy adoption is recommended between 8 and...

I have read that many of the issues that arise with dog behavior is due to the puppies being removed at 8 weeks. Much of their temperament is grounded in play with siblings and mother's discipline up to 12 weeks or more. But selling the puppies at 6-8 weeks means less hassle for the breeder...

We had a Boston terrier mix years ago. Her chest, legs, and tail looked like a Whippet. And boy could she run! (that's the remains of an old sneaker in front)

I'm on my fourth dog, all have been females. Our current pup was a senior rescue who came to us already spayed, but the other three were all spayed at 6 months or earlier. They lived to 15 1/2 years, 15 1/2 years, and 9 years old. The third died young due to stroking out from steroid treatments...

They x-ray the puppies for hip dysplasia. I had a Lab/GSD cross, wonderful dog, one in a million. She had hip dysplasia and I lost her before she was 9. I thought mixed breeds couldn't get it but it can happen when the parents carry the genes. They don't have to be purebred.

$$$$$$$ is the reason. We've always had mixed breed dogs, BUT if I were going to get a purebred I would buy from a reputable breeder. They will have pet quality puppies that are healthy, no hip dysplasia, etc. and at a reasonable price.

Back in 2021 we came home from vacation to find a stray cat had had a litter on our front porch. Within a week while I was at work I got a call from my son. The mother cat had moved her kittens, but left one behind. The kitten was following my son around the yard, mewing. Momma didn't come get...

I love corgis, too. When I was about 10 I was invited to spend occasional weekends with my grandmother's friend, who was childless yet enjoyed my company. She had a mixed breed setter/retriever type of mix, Bunny, and a Welsh corgi, Sam. I adored both dogs (I'd never had one) but especially Sam...

I've fallen in love with this breed: https://www.akc.org/dog-breeds/lancashire-heeler/ Currently they're a rather rare breed, and as others try to build up the gene pool so this old breed doesn't disappear they often have puppies that don't quite make the grade. Those are sold as pets and...

This is Cleo, she's German Shepherd (doh!), and possibly a hunting breed (due to her barking), and possibly American bulldog or other bully-type breed. She loves Deborah: We got her as a rescue, with "Dog-friendly, Cat-friendly, Chicken-friendly" in the description, so we suspect she was on a...
