    lol teenagers... when u have a pen with just roosters and no hens it happens no big deal... tho u might want to cull down or give them more space as its about the same time as they will start to fight more... all those teenager hormones i guess...

    they hatch with there beard and muffs... it tends to disappear when they are about to get the last of there feathers in but once the feathers grow in u can see it very well... sometimes the hatchery birds don't have one at all...

    very nice!!! LF blue is very rare here... the roosters tend to show the bleed threw of other colors more than the hens do... i have a LF blackXsalmon rooster that is almost a birchen color... i plan on breeding him to a splash Orpington and make some blue's... i am also going to breed him back...

    The main thing i look for at that age is good toe placement and good beard and muffs... Do not look at the color it changes way to much after that to be able to tell anything... Also i would look at size and general health and vigor... make sure they have a strait breast bone... also make sure u...

    some times there is quite a bit of difference in heritage birds... it seems that for the most part hatchery birds are all made from the same cookie cutter and are nearly always the same size... but in the older breeds there is allot more genetic diversity and that can effect many things...

    the funny shaped eggs can be from stress as well... when we have a large thunderstorm all my quail lay funny shaped and off colored eggs... and a few years ago had a neighbors dog come over and kill a couple chickens even the ones that where penned up and he could not get to layed a funny egg...

    i have 4 blue salmon hens 2 salmon hens in with a really nice salmon rooster from the UofA my original blue hen cam from pasofino(sp?) farms as well... i got my 1st egg of the spring from them yesterday :)

    find some one local that will custom hatch for you... and if you want to spend the money brood them for you as well... i do both for ppl here... i don't do it a bunch but have several times...

    idk about that lol... i guess it depends if your talking LF or bantam??? other than salmon most of the other colors of LF only have 2 to 5 breeders... if your looking for white good luck finding any...

    i have a LF black young roo from thechickenonthehill he has some salmon leakage so i plan on crossing him to blue and black Orps this summer... i know it will take a few generations but i will get there... i am also thinking of making the same cross with my LF salmon male from the UofA...
