If my full silkie(s) or one of the neighbor's birds crow, my SG roo follows... His crow kind of irritating, sounds like half bull frog being strangled followed by the coo-coo of the roo... Really strange stuff.
That's too funny! I had a Lord Fluffy Butt or LFB for short, he was my favorite! Sadly, I lost him to a hawk a few months ago. But my other SG roo, Duke Fluffington is still going strong!
ETA: LFB is my avatar.
I would say a dark blue. Blacks have no lighter colored feathers in the under fluff, just jet black. Blue is more common with BBS breedings, that is why many breeders have a separate black pen.
My small batch of 10 went into lock down last night! Can't wait for more fluffy butts! It looks as though my fertility is around 80~90% here is to hoping they all hatch!
I have finally got all my birds settled and have started to hatch up here in NE Ohio. I have gotten two really nice birds and one "eh" roo. I'll try to get some photos of them tonight to share with everyone! Including a Sizzle SG who is going through a hard molt. She looks so funny.
This was my first SG, her name is Louise, and she is giving me adorable pet showgirls. I got her at an auction with a few other naked neckers and did some research to find out about Showgirls.
This is one of her off-spring from a white and Louise cross. I loved her colors!
Since reading...
They have one problem, leg mites. I went out this morning to get some Baby oil, Vasoline and a tooth brush. I have flea and tick shampoo already thanks to "Mutt-ly crue" and some frontline, getting ready to clean out the sink (and wait for the temp to go up) before I start treating them. DH...
Alright...
One more thing...
I am showgirl obsessed...
I just drove 6 hours round trip...
To pick up a trio of Showgirls...
2 hens, 1 roo...
One of the hens is even SIZZLED!!!
Had to share some photos of a washed white sg roo.
This is Lord Fluffy Butt or LFB... He was "feather dusting" the under side of our diesel truck.
This is his pre-bath/over head shot... He is a white, not paint or splash...
I see him thinking, "What is this stuff!?!?!"
He wasn't very...
I would rather get a view of what the judges look for and do more for finding better quality. Right now I have one roo and hen that I think would do well in a show so I'm working on improving my stock first.
But the cool thing is, I'll be closer to Columbus for Nationals! If Joe says we can go... We are headed from Eastern NC to Canton, Ohio. Kind of a crazy move...
If I collect enough eggs and separate my dedicated broody, Ms. Rumpy, I should be able to let her sit, I can't hatch now because I had to pack up the incubators for a big move we have to do...
I miss hatching...
Too cute! I can't wait till I get some next year! My hubby isn't letting me hatch in fall and winter... I may have to try for some birthday babies... I hope my girls will lay over New Years...
I was out taking photos of my flock this afternoon since the weather here is so nice. My DH comes up as I'm giving my SG roo the glamor treatment and asks to hold him. He is standing there holding this 5m/o roo for about 5 minutes and the roo fell asleep in his arms.
This was the result:
I am...
