Tru, the boy that MD pointed out as hetero... What do the tail feathers look like? If they are like the other cockerls then I would say boy, if they are like the pullets I would say boy. Of course that's just a guess.:D Edited. if they are like the pullets I would say GIRL.

Yellow is what we want for our EOs (SOP), but white is dominate over yellow, genetically. there is some good info here about how the genetics of shank color works. edited to clarify from SOP and genetics.

I've never saw a grey hen before. She sure is a unique color for EOs. Pretty, even if she is not the SOP.

All these chicks have an EO sire and are 7 weeks old. the white chick is pure EO. Black cockerel is EO/Orpington, brown EO/Easter Egger (pullet). Now that I took photos of them, I know you are going to tell me the RW EO is a cockerel. None of the photos show it, but he has full tail feathers...

I have no tricks, but I'm pretty sure the chick that hatched today has yellow legs. Papa is white, but mom is yellow. I guess that proves he is caring a yellow gene. Also got a EO/Orpington and EO/Ameracauna. 100% hatch under a Welsummer broody. I should change my name to "LoveThoseBroodies"

they say select for type first. I think personality is an important type. a bad attitude is not something you want to pass on.

texas, i'd love to see how that SFH/EO grows up. I would guess you have a girl and a boy EO. The girl has the dark wings and tail feathers. congrats.

Given the size of her comb, sure looks like a pullet. I've never seen that color before on a female.
