Consolidated Kansas

And here, I was thinking we were doing pretty well to be allowed up to 12 chickens, because when I started looking into it, I was afraid they'd be banned outright! I guess it all depends on where you're coming from. ;-) I would still think, if your neighbors are OK with your chooks, the animal control people aren't going to come looking for trouble. Let me know if you ever run into trouble, and I'll go to bat for you! And I'm sure our other fellow-Kansans will, too!

Some towns don't let you have any chickens inside the city. One town I know of in Ks banned all poultry. But that was in reaction to the cock fighting getting out of control with some of the newer population and too many back yards turning into rooster growing operations. Sad on so many levels and so unfair to the families that want a few chickens for eggs, etc.

My neighbors are VERY ok with it. They buy most of my eggs.

BTW: Chickens are addictive!

I know why they do it, and I know a few towns that way too, but it doesn't make me any happier about it.

Hey everyone glad there is a Kansas Thread. Just west of Kansas City here. Glad the snow is melted, and looking forward to spring. Have some new Pullets hatched in September just starting to lay their first eggs.

Hi Mikesfarmer ! You're not too far from me. Cool to have more Kansans at this thread.

Surely there's more than that ... or are too many of us afraid to say anything? Never know what Kansas will tax next ... have to keep our chicken quiet!

OH the sunshine and no wind (at least for a while) It was so nice to go out and sit with the chickens this afternoon I miss that when it had been so cold and today is the first day I got 5 eggs out of 5 hens so I guess my sumatra girl has finally started laying

I was hoping perhaps for a longer return of the nicer weather. Has anyone seen the forecast?. ICE storm mid-week!!! GRRRRR!!
