JANUARY 2015 Hatch-A-Long

I finally tossed the last of the Dec 18th eggs. I cracked one open (inside a baggie) just out of curiosity, and it had a beautiful orange yolk. It hadn't developed at all! I don't know why it was appearing opaque during candling. However, I won those Modern Game eggs off of ebay, so that totally makes up for losing all of these. :D

Hope you all are blessed with lots of fluffy chickies in 2015

Picking my eggs up tomorrow from the person that's collecting them for me and just got word he got a silkie egg today. Woot woot. He says it could be a frizzle. Not really sure what that means but it sounds fun! If people other than you guys knew how very excited I am to be getting some more eggs to hatch they would think I'm nuts.

Hope everyone had a wonderful first day of 2015. Hubby and I took our 2 oldest kids (the 3rd one is only 1) up north to play in the newly fallen snow. Took us about 5 hours to get there, our lunch stop took an hour at mcds, we played for 2 hours and it's now 8pm and we probably still have a couple more hours before we are home but it was such a fun time.

Happy New Year everyone!!!

Also 4 frizzle eggs that were set on 12/22 all devloping and 1 frizzle egg set on 22/29 which i need to candle Sat/Sun

Also have 20 Khaki Campbell duck eggs i will be adding to the Jan HAL as soon as they get here.

Hope everyone who has chicks pipping and zipping are getting lots of fuzzy butts.

Happy birthday! I hope it was great!

Rocky goings here. 24 hours elapsed since first candling the internal pip, and the one egg had been peeping for several hours, so I decided it was time to help. Following the assisted hatching guide, I've made an artificial pip. Made a pretty big one and couldn't find the beak, but the baby is alive! I had to stop when I accidentally pulled too hard and caused a little bleeding. Come midnight, I'm going to try looking for the beak in the other direction when I go to wet the membrane.

They are resting, but I hear a peep now and then. Listening to the other eggs, I hear the sounds of life inside, but no other peepers. Lets hope early bird is the only one to have trouble.
