2015 August hatch-a-long!!

Final count out of 28 eggs: 4 quitters, 2 unhatched, 1 not as healthy as the others, but we've found him/her a permanent home as a pet with our retired neighbor, and 21 fluffy butts causing a ruckus in their brooder. Our first time hatching since either my husband or I were kids and our goal was at least 50%. So exciting. I mean so egg-citing!

Hey Hun! Sorry wish I had an answer for you we've been dealing with the same thing but hopefully now that our aggressive roo is gone we can get our other birds out there in the main flock

no biggie. I'm getting a few new chickens tomorrow and I'm sooooo excited! I'm almost positive that one if not two are silkies!!! They have the long feather flops on their feetsies. I'll be sending pics so that yall can tell me whatcha think.

Here's what I ended up doing with the first round of my second August hatch:

The second batch went into the brooder after I shuffled the older babies around a bit. Maybelle is happy with her brood, I just wished I'd had another broody to pop the other chicks under. It would've saved me a lot of work!
